First-rate and honest instruction on reality of present job market and how to navigate it with both a professional, targeted resume and loads of seasoned classroom instruction on how to effectively connect with the right people.
Really felt empowered by the focus on connecting in realtime with potentially helpful people, rather than just waiting and hoping my resume got through the online maze.
A must for building confidence and self-esteem - worked for propelling me toward securing a decent-paying position in a field that I like and in which there is both growth and integrity.
Thank you to an amazing team of professionals!!!!
Sheryll , Mike and Shilo are always giving you up to date information on how to narrow your job search base on the market needs and of course your very own preference, skills and background- even if you are transitioning into a different career-.They , through workshops and seminars put you in the right pathway. They won’t find you a job. They guide you through the process, from how to update your resume and how to find and use job search tools , to help you to prepare for the phone , video or in person interview. They always check on how one is doing or if one needs more help, even if you need specific training they will find the way to help you out. All this at not cost to you, only your personal commitment.
They don’t babysit anyone but they are there for you.
Honestly, I would not recommend going to the Red Deer Office. I was treated poorly by a staff member who was very unprofessional, disrespectful and abrupt in the Red Deer Career Leap Office.
I came to a booked appointment that was suppose to be 60 minutes long that lasted 5 minutes. The staff member never took the time to discuss what Career Leap was about and the programs they offered. The individual's mind was made up before I stepped foot into Career Leap's conference room. I was told that I didn't fit the criteria for their programs Essentially, I was judged from what I was wearing during the time I walked into the Red Deer Career Leap Office and escorted out the door after 5 minutes of an appointment. I am an educated woman with a BA degree that is on employment insurance that needed career assistance. However, I would travel to the Airdrie office to seek Career assistance from Career Leap. I spoke to Airdrie Staff and they were far more supportive and professional with regards to my situation From my Red Deer experience, I would seek career assistance from Career Leap in another city than Red Deer.
World-renowned scientist Louis Pasteur once said, “Chance favors only the prepared mind.”
One of the main reasons why I became a successful client with Career Leap is due to the preparation I received from the program. The workshops ran mainly by Sheryll in Career Leap offer in-depth and high-value information that modernizes the job search process, especially for the job market here in Alberta. Sheryll, along with her team members Shilo and Mike, has a collective world-class knowledge in preparing job-seekers to become self-aware of their skill sets, achievements, and professional value from their past job experiences. They all have the ability to extract the best version of yourself so you as a job-seeker will stand out from other candidates, giving you a higher chance of being noticed by hiring managers.
One of the best things I’ve learned from the program is, “The job search process is not about YOU (the job-seeker). It’s about THEM (the employers).” Simply put, if you tailor yourself (your resume, cover letter, mindset, and the way you interview) to what employers are looking for as a candidate, then it’s not a matter of IF you will get a job, but WHEN.
This would be a great spot to put a disclaimer...Career Leap WILL NOT MAGICALLY GIVE YOU A JOB. That is not what they do. They do not have jobs stashed in their pockets ready to be handed out like free pancakes during Stampede. You as a job-seeker must put in the work. However, what you will get is an amazing team that will mold, mentor, and position you to get the job that best fits what you are looking for. Ask yourself this question, what would you rather have; a lonely approach as you search for work or a team of highly skilled professionals with employer connections on your side, ready to help you throughout your job search process?
Career Leap is a Government-funded program, so there is no monetary cost to you, except your time and effort. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Career Leap because of the wealth of knowledge, industry connections, and professional care that Sheryll, Shilo, and Mike have to offer. They are located downtown, easily accessible by transit or car (there’s a parking lot beside them). If you’re in the market for a job, book your appointment today. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
A good resource for someone trying to get back into the workforce.
