I recently attended the Cattle Baron with a large group that included adults and young children. The food was amazing and the service we received was the best I've EVER had. We will definitely be back next time we're in Calgary. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Thank you! If I could give 10 stars, I would.
I visited on a very busy Saturday night, but I was able to get a table. I usually order the dry ribs here as they are some of the best I have had anywhere. They are unlike typical dry ribs, as they are tender and juicy. The only things holding me back from giving a five star review would be my main course and the speed of service. I ordered the Pepper Steak, which I found to be rather salty. Perhaps I'm just more sensitive to salt, as I try to avoid using too much of it in my own cooking, but this dish was especially salty. With this, I could not recommend this dish, especially when considering the $27 price tag. However, I can recommend other items on their menu, such as the prime rib, or any of their steak options. In regards to the service, it was extremely slow. I understand that it is hard to keep things moving when it's busy, but it took a very long time for the food to come out. Overall, I can recommend this resuraunt, but I would advise trying to visit outside of peak hours for a better experience.
Great pricing for what you get. I would go here rather than the keg. To start I get the baked brie with red pepper jelly and I enjoy it every single time. Next would be the prime rib with their horseradish and it is just amazingly juicy. If I am ever in the mood for a good slab of beef this is the spot.
Absolutely fantastic meal and service! We had traveled from out of town and this was our first time in Calgary, actually in Alberta, so we decided we needed to try an authentic steakhouse and try some Alberta beef!
We were not disappointed! All of our stakes were cooked perfectly the way that we ordered them. The prime rib just melts in your mouth.
We had two servers, Tayler and James. Both of them were extremely friendly and very professional. They definitely didn't make it feel like a regular restaurant and made it feel more like a special occasion even though we were just out for a family dinner. They really showed us the western hospitality that we were hoping for that people back home told us about during our dining experience.
I 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone that is considering it! And next time we pass through town, we will definitely be going back!!
Cattle Baron, keep doing what you're doing, because it's absolutely perfect! Thank you all for a great night out with my family!
EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE!!
Always a great dining experience here.
Party of 5 went August 7, 2021 for 5:30 pm
birthday dinner on the glassed-in patio.
Excellent patio experience with no where the noise
experienced inside the restaurant.
We could actually speak to each other without yelling.
Great to see a place that knows how to cook a RARE STEAK . . .
which IMHO is the the only way to eat a steak.
Any steak cooked more than medium rare is a total waste of money.
One minor suggestion and this a personal choice . . .
would love to have the escargots served in mushroom caps
instead of just garlic butter or at least make it an option.
The wine list is a little pricey but I expect this when dining out.
Wine list was fine for my tastes.
All in all . . . GREAT EXPERIENCE and EXCELLENT SERVICE!
WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK and Recommend to my friends.
