I must express my disappointment with the guided hike led by Tibor Egri from Bear Country Guiding & Consulting. The overall experience fell far short of our expectations. Firstly, Tibor's knowledge, touted as a highlight in other reviews, was not up to par for what one would expect from a professional guide.

However, the most disappointing aspect of our hike was Tibor's attitude. Throughout the excursion, he exuded an unfriendly demeanor that bordered on arrogance. He seemed impatient, in a hurry to conclude the hike, and displayed frustration when my wife took a moment to capture a few pictures. This not only tainted the atmosphere of the hike but also made us feel unwelcome.

A guided hike is not just about the destination; it's also about the experience and the rapport with the guide. Unfortunately, Tibor's demeanor greatly affected our enjoyment of the hike, leaving us with a negative impression of Bear Country Guiding & Consulting. We expected a more professional and personable approach, and sadly, we did not receive it on this occasion.

Tibor lacks the personality to provide an enjoyable guiding experience; a career change might be a better fit for him.

I'm skeptical about the authenticity of the other reviews, particularly the one by Tsering Palmo Egri, who happens to be Tibor's wife and works at Tsering Palmo Consultancy in Calgary (Tsering Palmo's review will probably be removed soon, now that they are caught!).

We had an amazing day with great company in Banff ❤️. Banff is always wonderful. Accompanied by professionals such trips are unforgettable. Our children were delighted. We could see all the best places there. Tibor is really professional. Thank you Bear Country Guiding and Consulting.👍👍👍

Tibor took my husband and me for a hike in the Kananaskis area. This turned out to be my MOST enjoyable, scenic and educational hike! We were very lucky to have Tibor as our guide, as we are from BC and do not know the area. He is very professional, knowledgeable, organized and punctual. Most importantly, he cares, and also knows the area so well to accommodate me as a beginner hiker. His pick of routes worked perfect for me so that I could have a wonderful time without any strains! I therefore highly recommend Tibor‘s exceptional service to anyone who would like to have a memorable and pleasure hike! I also especially enjoyed Tibor taking the time to point out and provide names to many different species of trees, plants, insects, small and big animals, and even mountains along the way. Tibor is like a walking encyclopedia of all things in nature. Many thanks to him for such an informative day! Never thought about a guided walk can be this fun, easy and educational at the same time! Tibor’s service is so worth it!! We are looking forward to our next hike with him!

Tibor took us on trails to explore. The day was sunny while the scenery and mountains were beautiful. We followed the trail along the beach of the lake. Tibor was so kind to point out hazards such as tree roots, loose rocks, etc., and he was on alert for any possible bear encounter.
Tibor is very knowledgable about wildlife, and we learned much from him. He has a big heart for animals.
Tibor picked a very nice lakefront spot for a snack. Very scenic! We really enjoyed the chat with him!
We had a very relaxing “ Zen” day on the trails, with no worries at all [fear of getting lost]! Next time we are in Calgary, I would not hesitate to call up Tibor for another hike to explore more of the Kananaskis/Banff area!

Tibor has exceptional knowledge and enthusiasm of wildlife and mountains and also a great sense to interpret their complex relationships for people. I know I still have to learn a lot, but I already feel much more confident when hiking in the mountains, in bear country. I would definitely recommend his services to everyone. 😃
