Ice Fishing Calgary

My husband and I went for ice fishing for the first time with Lubo. We were both uncertain on how this experience would be. However, The fishing was great, much better than expected.

We were kept warm in comfortable fishing huts that were heated. They were so warm that I was comfortable without a jacket on. We caught about 6 fishes, Lubo was very professional that we got to manage to catch fishes!

I highly recommend this fishing experience to anyone and I would recommend the more the merrier. We had such a great time (even my dog as you can see in pictures😉) and we will definitely be back with our friends in another time! Also, I highly recommend you get Lubo as a guide, he has great experience and great stories to share!❤️

We caught so many fish we kept losing count !! Our first experience Ice fishing and we learned a lot from Lubos. He was so patient with us and answered our 1000 questions. We got to try different hooks, bait and equipment .

I’ve been ice fishing 7 or 8 different times over the last 10 years or so, and all of those days combined weren’t half as good as the one day my wife and I spent with Lubo. I had a blast, and I’m pretty sure she liked it even more than I did. Ha.

Here are a few things that I noticed set it apart:

- the gear, Lubo has everything, 16 lines in the water, 5 different rod types, 10 different baits, fire pit, BBQ, extra boot spikes, extra drinks, etc., etc.
- knowledge, he’s been doing it for so long, he has all his hot spots marked on his GPS, and absolutely loves to share what he knows about all of the intricate details of catching fish under 2” of ice.
- attitude - Lubo has to be one of the most positive and accommodating people I have ever had the pleasure to spend the day with. He clearly loves what he does and it shows.

At first I went back and fourth about whether the cost of paying for a guide was worth it, but now looking back, it seems cheap. We probably used $5000 worth of Lubo’s gear that day and caught 8 monster Pike. I’ve never had a day of fishing like that in my life, winter or summer. There’s just no way that most of us can invest the time, money, and dedication into the sport, to make it as seemingly easy and enjoyable as Lubo makes it seem. For me, paying a few hundred dollars to have access to years of Lubo’s time and education for the day was worth every penny.

Our family of 4 kids went fishing for a day and we had the best time ever! We felt so welcomed and the owner took so much time to teach us tips and tricks! It was my first time and I wouldn’t change this experience one bit! We didn’t want to leave even when it got dark out and I can’t wait to go back! I highly recommend giving it a try! Thank you guys for the best day ever!!!

Great day of fishing with Lubos; he was very knowledgable, talented, respectful/careful with the fish, and more than happy to share his awesome fishing set up with us. Lubos graciously accommodated my preschooler as well as our dog- both had so much fun!
