Great campsites, very private. No cell reception for the most part, which is a a pro or a con depending what your goal for the stay is. Staff are helpful and the sites are very clean.
Nice sized campsites that were nneat and tidy. The bathrooms were clean and relatively bug free - a bit smelly but that is to be expected I think. The lake is beautiful and clear. Very little light pollution so star gazing was wonderful.
May have just been a bad weekend but, this was my experience.
Multiple campsites were loud partying until after 1 am. The quiet time procedure and rules were not well known or enforced.
The website for the campsite said flush toilets, which is inaccurate. There may be a flush toilet on site somewhere, but all 4 bathrooms I used were out houses. And they were extremely stinky.
The lake had blue green algae which meant no swimming.
Positive: The trails and the lake walls were nice.
The beach looks like it would have been a nice place to hang out for the day of the water was swimmable. Campsites were decent size, recommend booking one near the lake side.
The wasps were really really bad this year, but there were no mosquitoes. So pick your poison.
The campground is well maintained except for water issues. Please bring your own drinkable water, just in case, especially if you are not in section A. As well, there is no store anymore, except a small trailer with very limited supplies. Fortunately there is a convenience store only 10 minutes drive away.
What a wonderful experience we had this weekend. Our group was spread across several sites which were all well maintained. Doug came by and dealt with several wasp/hornet nests to keep campers and our onslaught of children safe. He was so kind and respectful to the children and all their questions.
The lake is beautiful. Yes there are leaches, but you don't feel them and a little salt takes care of the problem. The campers beaches were perfect but the day use was really rocky. There are lots of trails that make for a great experience.
