Nice quite bar in the hotel MacDonald.... Decent prices, cold beer, great service. Great place to bring a date or chill before/after a downtown event.
Always a great lounge for a drink before or after an event downtown when you are dressed up. Try the Moscow mule!
It's always a treat to go to the Confederation lounge, and my husband and I are regulars. Whether you get David, Gwen, or Runa as your server, you are in good hands. As service at this lovely historic location, is always first class. It's a more expensive lounge, but if it's in your budget, it is well worth the cost. A fantastic place for a date night, casual lunch, or business dinner. I'd recommend this location to anyone. The mushroom bisque is a favorite of mine, though I was a little heartbroken when they discontinued the pulled bison poutine. My only criticism would be that their charcuterie could use a serious upgrade, as it currently consists of very small portions of meat, cheese, and fruit, and an over abundance of condiments. They could stand to take a page from the Pallisser(another gorgeous gem in the Fairmont crown)'s play book on that front. Whether you are looking for a cozy drink by the fire on a cold night, or a beautiful view from a patio, on a warm day. The MacDonald's Confederation lounge is the perfect place to go.
The drinks are pricey but they are well crafted. It also has the best view of the city and river valley.
It's crazy to think that 30 years ago this building was derelict and full of squatters and grafitti. Now it's one of the classiest places to go for a drink downtown, but be warned that the prices match the ambiance. Cocktails are top notch and there's always a good selection of local craft beers. The spacious patio offers a beautiful view of the river valley, but you can't see the Canada Day fireworks; the view doesn't go far enough to the west.
A Brief History of The Confederation Lounge: Since The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald opened its doors in 1915, the beckoning atmosphere of The Confederation Lounge has always charmed our guests. A striking detail of the lounge is the 18-foot wide and nine-foot high Fathers of Confederation reproduction above the fireplace.

The Confederation Lounge is located in The Hotel Macdonald. We go here for its extensive Scotch menu. Noticed a lot of people ordering snacks before events. Great atmosphere with breathtaking views. Service is pretty slow so leave plenty of time.
