Dr . Wolfli saved me and my knee from getting another surgery for skin grafts, he gave me the encouragement needed for me to get better from the injury I was suffering from. Torn ligaments, he was awesome and I was very impressed by caring his very professional demeanour. Thank you Dr. Wolfli.
What A journey! I am very pleased with the results of my surgery with Dr. James.
He did not have an easy. I was out long boarding with my dog, and 35 years old I have done all kinds of sports like this from surfing to snowboarding. I have not suffered an injury or so much as a bad fall since I was 28... as I’ve become a lot more careful and less incline to push unreasonable limits.
However o was letting a 110 pound puppy pull me down a hill, when a car came towards us they were awkward about the 6’2” guy on a longboard with a dog going full tilt and my dog Thanos ran in front of me cutting me off. The end result is me going end over end with the bulk of the impact going to my hands.
I noticed my hand was swollen the size of a baseball... no quite softball... but baseball. And my
Thumb up as pointing kinda funny and it hurt pretty badly.
I went to the miserycordia closest to my
Acreage where I was at the time.... I was told
It would be a 4 hour wait. So I drove to Devon. The wait time was considerably shorter but the Doctor in the emergency was not prepared for my Injury. After x-rays they kinda just wrapped it up because they were afraid to touch it and let me know if would likely need surgery. Then 4 people tried to figure out how to splint my hand. The splint made matters much worse and because it was a long weekend I had to wait 3 days with no painkillers to see this Doctor at Grey Nuns.
Dr. Wolfli and I got off to a rocky start, mostly because my hand had something more akin to Shrapnel than a “mandracarpel” bone inside it. His first inclination on looking at my x-rays was that it would maybe heal okay by itself. We did another x-ray though and it was obvious that it needed surgery on my bag of bones in my hand. (this is the “knuckle”
Of the bone attaching my thumb to my wrist.)
Once we determine that, Dr. JW’s experience and expertise shined as brightly as his team. He got a good read on my personality.... which I would self identify as “direct and assertive” with a hint of “my hand effing hurts” and he easily walked me through things. Put up with my skepticism and need for details well. He wasn’t afraid to push back when needed but he quickly earned my trust and from
Then on it was simple questions and answers.
His team of nurses and other nameless faces that were around were always friendly and professional. Fast and eager to make the experience light. They didn’t hesitate with giving me diagnostics when asked or allowing me to document things for
My own research and piece of mind.
He also listened to my lifestyle. I’m not the type to sit at home and say no to everything because my
Hand hurts. The week after our first meeting I pushed a random guys broken down truck into his drive way. Helped a friend move, and YES... continued to longboard with the dog.
So they put me in really good splints
And casts during the process to make sure that I was protected from my own stubborn self! Lol
Surgery day was prompt.... and I didn’t go to Heaven during the gas part where they put you under! Woke
Up, everyone took care of me. Wouldn’t let me drive home and helped make sure I had what I needed.
During all the follow ups Dr. JW was attentive. It always felt like he gave a little extra attention and made me feel like he was professionally interested in my recovery. I use my hands a lot for work from constructions sites, to computer work. So my hands are very important.
He also gave me a great recommendation for physio and I am writing this review with both hands on an iPhone using my busted thumb.
While I may not ever be back to perfect after disintegrating half of the largest bone in my hand... I am confident that had I not been fortunate enough to work with DR. JW, I would be worse off today as a result.
If you’re sitting in a waiting room like I was, in pain, worried this Canadian Healthcare system has given you some 3rd rate bench warmer Doctor named James Wolfli.... calm down. Take a breathe..... you’re in good hands. Pun Intended.
