This is an amazing off leash park. Lots of happy dogs running around.

We love coming to the Hawrelak off leash side, prior to crossing the pedestrian bridge towards Laurier Park. It's quieter than the Laurier Park but a very well travelled multi-use trail with many interwoven pathways to take. The riverside pathways become very slippery with precipitation as the path is dirt/mud, but the main wider pathway stays relatively more dry as there is tree coverage. Always a beautiful view when walking in the River Valley, but autumn is our favorite season to travel the trails

Hawrelak is an absolutely stunning park. In the winter they have an ice castle and you can go skating on the pond. While in the summer they often have live music events in the amphitheatre. It's a lovely place to wander - lots of birds and picnic tables.

Disclaimer, I don't own a dog, but I LOVE coming down here on the weekend to see everybody walking and playing with their dogs. I've even seen some cats on leashes here. The trail is well maintained and easy to drive to, you can walk across the bridge to Hawrelak Park too, and there's some shoreline areas to let your dog swim in the river for a bit.

The trails going north could be better maintained however.

My pup and I always have such a good time here! The trails are well-maintained, there's river access and the banks are usually wide enough to walk on in the summer - important if your dog loves swimming as much as mine does! Everybody picks up after their dog, which is fantastic, and almost everybody - both human and canine - I've met in the two years I've been coming here has been very friendly.
