I have only been parking at the U of A for about 6 months, and as with any university campus, parking is limited compared to demand (when you consider faculty, staff, students and on-campus event needs). It is going to be expensive because it is a privilege, not a right to be able to drive to such a dense, congested space. With that in mind, I've had pretty good overall experience and interactions with the u of a parking services. I have generally only had to deal with enforcement when I didn't have my permitted vehicle and they've always been super friendly, helpful and prompt. I buy my permit online and renew it every month through the online portal. It's a bit dated for a web interface, but it is straightforward enough and navigable. The parkade is well-lit, easy to access and has electric plug-ins for winter. It is clean and seems well-monitored, as I usually come across either security or a cleaning crew on duty when I arrive. I can't say parking at the U of A isn't frustrating. It definitely is. But in the context of where we are trying to park, it has been pretty good for me so far.
Have called the University Parking Staff multiple times and they are nothing but helpful. Keep up the great work. Extra praise for Jesica. "Thank You"
I also wouldn't worry about the low scores as most do seem to be writing after being ticketed.
The online pass system works well as does the new point of sale payment system (you can pay from your phone rather than waiting in line). I've had excellent customer service every time I've gone in with questions, and I've even successfully appealed two tickets because the appeals officer seems like a reasonable person (don't have to pay before appeal).
