I found out about this Bhakti-yoga centre while reading The Science of Self Realization by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada the founder/Acharya(spiritual master) of ISKCON(The International Society of Krishna Consciousness)
In the back of this book there was an invitation saying "Join us for our sunday feast program!" Having read 3 other books(Chant and be Happy,The perfection of Yoga and Sri Ishopanishad) on the subject of Bhakti-yoga by the same author Srila Prabhupada and being thoroughly convinced, through the philosphy presented therein,of God's existence a conviction i had not previously held.
i was excited to visit this Bhakti-yoga centre. So i flipped to back of the book which had a list of all the centres worldwide, my eyes searched for Canada and low and behold we had a centre here in Edmonton!
So for 7yrs i have been going to Sri Sri Radha Govindaji temple and trying to become first class Bhakti-yoga student/teacher. There is a daily program which starts 5:30am everyday.
The main sunday program starts 10am and includes Mantra meditation, a talk on the philosophy behind the spiritual practice followed by a vegetarian feast around 1pm.
I cannot express enough how the Bhakti-yoga philosophy and practice has changed my life and i am very grateful there is at least this one centre in Edmonton to help educate those fortunate souls who have had their consciousness raised by the transcendental knowledge of Lord Krishna(a name of God that means The All Attractive one) It is a non-sectarian space for spiritual advancement and all are welcome to take advantage of this centre for that purpose.
I would like to thank all the Bhaktas that have encouraged me and welcomed me with open hearts and minds.
Even when i spend time away, your dedication is a source of inspiration to me to stay committed and devoted to raising my consciousness to the highest level of selfless service.
