Here's my favorite!
Lemongrass chicken with vermicelli noodles. Friendly and attentive staff! I moved from the area and really miss being close by.
Had the Bun Bo Hue.
Flavourful soup. Well prepared meat and a good amount of it. Noodles wasn't too broken up. Good level of spiciness right from the kitchen, in my opinion. Price is slightly above average for what you get though.
Overall, great bowl.
Just had the best Bowl of Bun Bo Hue that I've had in the city! Spicy, vietnamese sausage was super flavorful! Do yourself a favor and have some soup here!
Lemongrass Beef with Steamed Rice (Spicy) w/ extra meat $13.00
Tender beef stir-fried in special lemongrass sauce with bell peppers and white onions. Served on a bed of vermicelli.
Pho Anh is probably my favourite local Vietnamese joint. Cozy, unassuming, friendly service, next to the public library and home to an epic six colour vermicelli bowl.
The other day, I decided to try their Lemongrass Beef with Steamed Rice. It pales in comparison to the above-mentioned vermicelli bowl, but I appreciated it.
An opulent supply of savoury beef, coupled with sufficient vegetables and rice. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find sriracha to accentuate the moderate spice level.
I recommend Pho Anh. They likely don’t have to pay excessive rental rates like Phobulous in the Garneau area, so their prices are far more reasonable. And their service is far better, the library is like next door and they’re not plagued by the pretentious fudu types that often stain the Garneau hood.
Came here while I was recently visiting Edmonton. Little place in a strip mall setting. Nothing fancy in the decor, but the meals were fantastic.
I ordered the seafood (shrimp, scallops and squid) with seasonal vegetables. It was absolutely delicious and the test of a truly great chef - the squid was not overdone in the least, it was beautifully tender and delicious. Seasoning was nice. Veggies nice and fresh and again, not overdone.
Everyone enjoyed their meals and I will surely be visiting again when I next visit Edmonton
