Higher Ground Cafe - Capitol Hill

Coffee is great and so is their service. They have lots of options for tea, coffee, and food to choose from! Also serves alcohol - just few basic drinks though! They have started dine-in, not sure why Google says only take-out.

Yesterday was the first time I experienced the Higher Ground cafe. We arrived there about 11.30 and looked for a place to sit. One woman was annoying as we went by--she placed her backpack on the chair across from her as if we had some virus or horns on our heads. She greedily sat at a table for three byr herself with no concern that others might need a seat. We ordered mac and cheese that was tasty and I also ordered a turkey sandwich that was also tasty. The cafe is small and it might have to do more with lack of proper arrangement of tables. It has a great location so I am sure it does brisk business. We plan to be back but hope we do not run into greedy table-grabbers.

Coffee is pretty good. Nice ambiance.

One thing tho is they ask for tips, but we actually have to serve ourselves. We had to go to the counter to get our food and drinks, so what’s the point for tips?? Why customers have to pay extra for them to do their job??

Great coffee! Ginger cream is AMAZING, all thanks to the wonderful barista at the counter who suggested it to me. I am hooked now! The atmosphere is very peaceful and warm. Great place to study, read, or just catch a bite with some friends! Will definitely be returning.
