“Staff in radiology performed the incorrect scan on me, which I needed due to gallbladder problems. The wrong scan - which I did not realize was the wrong scan until later in the ER - made me so violently sick that I ended up in the ER. I have a serious, chronic health issue stemming from abdomenal surgeries as a premature infant which were triggered by the incorrect scan performed on me. Although I was thoroughly disappointed by the incorrect scan and the long wait in the ER I was treated with respect, kindness and compassion by staff, especially in the ER. Dr. Todd Peterson attended to me in the ER and was the epitome of what an ER doctor should be: intelligent, attentive, willing to listen, highly compassionate and genuine in his care for patients. I was very ill but my spirits were lifted by the loving care I received by Dr. Peterson and the exceptional nurses under his direction. Mistakes happen, even at hospitals where people expect perfection. It is frustrating to experience a medical mistake but I am thankful for the way I was treated by staff. They made me feel that they cared about me and wanted me to feel better. *** April 15, 2019 *** Back in the ER for the second time this year for another small intestine obstruction and possible gallbladder attack. Although I hate being in the ER and I hate being in pain/sick, I love the nurses and doctors who work in the ER. Not only are they knowledgeable and professional, but they're also compassionate and loving. I feel valued and accepted here, that my situation truly matters and that I'm more than just a number on a chart. I was seen almost right away, even though the department is busy. Nobody enjoys being in the ER and it is difficult to rest here, but it's reassuring to feel that those taking care of me genuinely want me to be comfortable and to get better. Much gratitude and love to the staff at the Rockyview General Hospital ER ????”
