I have been going to Al's Chop Shop since it opened. Just like all of the other reviewers - you can't beat the price, the guys are all bang on with the cuts, and they all make you feel welcome! Keep up the great job!
I've been going there for years now. Every stylist is bang on. I just tell them to cut my hair how they want to do it and they knock it out of the park everytime. Fast, friendly, professional - these guys are the best. I won't go anywhere else with my hair.
After going there a few times I stopped having to say what I wanted. Al just knows, and gives me a perfect cut every time. Super nice guy and very affordable
Haircuts are very good. Quick, good cuts for a reasonable price.
However, never ever consider getting a shave here. I just had by far the worst shave off my life at Al's Chop Shop.
He started with a technique I've never seen before, putting the soap directly on my face and using a brush to create a lather... Nothing was done to prep my face ahead of time. No hot water rinse, even, let alone a hot towel.
He ran the tap for almost my entire haircut, so the water was piping hot, but he barely dipped the brush in the water, so by the time it touched my face, it was cold. Cold soap and a cold brush... I should have just stopped him there.
He then started the shave with many short quick strokes at a harsh blade angle. With a good razor, the proper technique is long smooth slow strokes with a shallow blade angle. I can't believe I didn't stop him here.
At first, the blood didn't start, as you may know if you've ever done a proper shave, it takes a while to appear. Three nicks started bleeding immediately, but it was only after he'd finished his first pass that my face erupted in small cuts.
I now literally have about 30-40 small nicks on my face and neck.
He was about to start a second pass on my butchered face, when I finally stopped him. It was only a few minutes after he'd wiped off the test of the cold soap when I realized the full extent of the damage.
As you may know, razor burn only starts to really sting after your face has been dry and soap-free for a little while. As I was paying--why I paid for this service at all, I don't know--as I was paying, the full-face burn started.
I never knew razor burn could be this extensive. I've given myself some bad razor burn in my life, particularly on my neck when I was learning to double-edge shave, but I've never experienced anything like this. Literally 70-80% of my face and front of my neck is razor burn. It's been over an hour and it burns add badly as the worst Tracie burn I've ever given myself--and I've moisturized (at home) with a high-quality after shave balm!
I reiterate: DO NOT GET A SHAVE HERE. YOU WILL REGRET IT!
The haircuts are good, quick, and reasonably priced. I will be back for my next haircut.
Hair: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Shave: ????????????????????
Today was my sixth time going here and had another great hair cut. I have had my hair cut by all three guys and they all do a fantastic job. Now that they have added a third chair wait times are even faster. Staff are very friendly, good at their jobs and you can't beat the price. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
