Academy Hearing Centres

I went to Academy Hearing more than 5 years ago when I discovered I needed hearing aids. The service I received was professional, friendly and very helpful. Was back there yesterday for new Aids and am pleased to say nothing has changed. Kathy is wonderful and I have no hesitation in recommending both her and Academy Hearing to a anyone who needs hearing aids.

I have a serious hearing loss in the higher frequencies due to concussions from Artillery cannon firing and Academy Hearing has provided me with the latest and best hearing aids that have given me access to understanding speech that I would otherwise not hear. I am indebted to Kathy and her excellent service for these many years. Thank you, Kathy and ReSound.

FINALLY, someone that understands hearing loss and the importance of finding the right hearing aid for ME! Rather than the brand that they are commissioned to sell. Kathy at Academy Hearing was genuinely concerned about my hearing health AFTER I left the office.

I am a very experienced hearing aid wearer (43+years!) and have had some interesting experiences. Most of the time, they were not great. I did find someone really good years ago and when she moved to Medicine Hat, I followed her. A long way to go, but in the long run, faster because she was more concerned about finding the right brand/fit for me. Sadly, she retired, and I needed to find someone new.

After a lot of asking around, I decided to try the clinic that was recommended the most to me, Academy Hearing. Boy am I glad I did. Kathy even managed to make my existing hearing aids, that I loved, sound even better! However, I needed new ones and that was the big test.

My hearing loss is severe to profound, so I wear custom and they fit perfectly on the first try! During the fitting/adjusting process, Kathy was patient and willing to try as many adjustments as I needed. She respected my experience and she was patient explaining the differences between my old and new aids, which my brain would need to learn.

Over the years, people have always asked me for hearing aid advice and where to go. I never had an answer for them, because first time wearers need extra care and driving back-and-forth to Medicine Hat is not feasible. All I could tell them was to be assertive and make sure they communicate with their provider. Be patient, it may take several trips, and make sure they are comfortable.

Now, I have someone recommend and I want to shout it from the rooftops! I am so happy that I can guide first time users to such a friendly, knowledgeable clinic. Hearing aids are expensive and if they are not right, they end up in the nightstand unworn. They will never work when they are in your nightstand and you just threw thousands of dollars in the garbage!

I have been working with my hearing loss for years with both Kathy and Jeanette. I think it is as necessary to have as good a relationship with your audiologist as it is with your doctor or dentist. At Academy, I am happy with their friendly and professional attitude. Kathy hears what I am saying when I require some change or have a question. I needed an upgrade from my old set and together we found new hearing aids that fit my requirements. Each of my ears needed quite different levels and fittings and I am very happy with the result.

The crew at Academy hearing have been great. Right from the time I walked through the door they were highly professional and a pleasure to deal with. They worked with me to figure out the best solution for my hearing needs and have always been ready to help me out with any ongoing questions or concerns I have had. They are great!
