This is the church I grew up in. It was wonderful to be a part of such an open, truly loving church. My confirmation classes involved a “Religions of the World 101” class that ended with “and this is what we believe. Would you like to join up?” I was a performer and they gave me a very loving space in which to sing, play the piano/trumpet and to act in the many musical theatre shows the junior choir did. We, the United Church of Canada, were the first Christian church in Canada, I believe, that happily married and ordained LGBTQ people. I am very proud of that.
