Mackay’s is classic. They have a ton of options for flavours, and they are all super creamy and flavourful. Don’t be shy to ask for a sample - some of the more adventurous flavours could be a hit or miss so it’s safer to taste it before getting a whole scoop of it! And definitely check out their ice cream fridge - they sell small tubs with several flavours you can’t get on the menu (like purple yam!)
Parking is abundant around the shop and across the street, and expect very long line ups on nice days, especially weekends. And unfortunately the line doesn’t end at the door - it continues on even further inside! However it’s definitely worth the wait.
Best ice cream I've ever had! Well worth the long wait in the summer! Love that the its not overly sweet, but is perfectly creamy and smooth. Highly recommend checking it out.
Amazing ice cream! Such a large selection of flavors, something for everyone. The only reason for 4 stars is the price. For 2 single scoop and 2 kiddie scoops, with a sugar cone for the kids and waffle for the adults it came to just under $19. Definitely not an everyday thing at that price but great for a treat ????
If there were more than 5 stars, this place would get it. Love, love, love this place. Amazing staff, incredible selection of ice cream for all dietary restrictions. This area of cochrane has that old feel and so does the shop. Even the staff’s work attire. If you live in Calgary, or just visiting this is a must visit spot
My first trip here and I was not disappointed! The lines were long but it moves fast and is absolutely worth it! The ice cream wasn't too sweet, was delightfully creamy, and there were lots of flavors to choose from. It is a bit pricey ($4 for one scoop plus additional cost for the different cones) but it is fairly close to the price you would pay elsewhere. Maybe I'm just cheap ???? I will absolutely take my family here again the next time I'm in town!
