Summer or winter if you are going to Banff do not miss out on Lake Minnewanka. In Summer, bring your boat to this paradise or rent one up here. In winter bring your skis, sleds or blades to this frozen lake. If you like Ice fishing then this is a good place for that as well. Sunset and sunrise is spectacular.
A bit crowded but if you go along the road there are side-areas you can park in and really enjoy the natural beauty of the lake. At night time during the summer it is PHENOMENAL.The stars are simply gorgeous beyond belief and it's kind of surreal to drive on the dam in the night. Be really careful about driving out at night because wild-life does frequent the highway. We saw a fox on the way out. During the day it's so romantic.Probably one of the most beautiful places you'll ever find in Canada. The lake is ultra cold so don't expect to swim in it, even in summer. I'll probably remember our visit here for the rest of my life. A+++++
An experience of a lifetime. Enjoyed the boat ride and the history of the area. Lovely scenery and a must-see for all tourists.
One more Lake destination in Prairies. This Lake is near Banff and can be visited on the way to Lake Louise from Calgary. This has a boat ride which is well.priced and a one time ride for new visitors. This place has washroom, parking lot and picnic benches for visitors. You may not find anything to eat but there is a shop near ride for drinks and some snacks. Also there is a nearby dam kinda thing to visit if interested.
Plenty of stalls.
