Sawyer's Nook

We stopped in for lunch and each of us ordered something different; the power bowl with chicken, the duck confit poutine, the beef dip sandwich, the chicken pot pie and the burger and it was all delicious. Excellent service and reasonable prices!

Part of the Temple Lodge. Upstairs. Sit down dining. Some tables had linen. No draft beer. Very interesting menu and the prices are fair for eating on the hill. Escargot was good -- 6, mushrooms, topped with snails, topped with breading and yummy garlic butter and broiled. Mushroom fondue was good -- excellent cheese and sides. Elk osso bucco was horrible -- dry and tough. Took one bite and had to send back (note I haven't sent any meal back in a long, long time). Next one was much better but I wouldn't recommend it. Service was good but no adjustment was made for horrible dish. Manager didn't even come over. Another star deduction for the bathroom. I've been to outhouses that have looked and smelled better. A shame.

Update: we visited a year later and had a much, much better experience. The elk meatballs were to die for, the fondue was great, and the raspberry crumble was excellent. The bathrooms were even clean this time. 5 stars this visit, 3 last.

It’s sad that lake Louise has close to zero options for good food for a decent price. This lodge on the hill at the ski resort is making up for that, actually. Good portions for a decent price and good quality. Staff are friendly. If they eating here before returning to the hotel...

Table service and excellent food. Love this place on a ski day.
