A serene place that offers almost uncommon scenery from the surrounding terrain. Kinbrook is an oasis in the Albertan prairies full of hundreds of bird species, and other mammals.
How can this place be such a hidden gem you ask… well, its not if you live in Brooks. Strange how we tend to populate the closest amenities when so much exists just steps farther than the prevailing convention; this last line being directed toward most of the province. Do yourself a favour and checkout Kinbrook Island. Trails, beach, power sites, birds, deer…
We did some camping here over 2 nights with trailer units, some sites are definitely not as private as others. I’d say the ‘C’ campground area has most privacy, that is where we camped anyway and was really good.
The group use areas seemed a little bit abandoned, maybe it was because it is a bit later in the year now already.
Park has a concession (which was closed during our stay) but I’ve heard it is really good, also there is a building with showers and real toilets, and sinks…
showers are one dollar for two minutes.
Firewood for sale at the registration shack.
Some renovations going on a bit east of the beach.
Beach is nice and clean, nice and clear water even when the water is low. Boat launch was closed due to low water levels at this time of year which was a bit sad but lots of parking for truck/boat trailers, definitely will be coming here with my boat next year. overall we had a really good experience here, not sure how some of the other campsite areas would be, but for me I sure do hope to come back here many time in the summers to come.
1. Poor level of privacy between sites but everything makes this park worth visiting
2. I only used the outhouse bathrooms but there is shower and nicer bathrooms here
3. Loved the concession. Great food good value good service, their breakfast wrap was amazing
4. Great lake/beach. I saw people catching fresh water clams.
Very beautiful campground. No ATM, so bring cash. The campsite we were in had lots of gravel. We were in a tent and had a hard time staking down our tent and dining shelter. Even in the grass, our stakes were bending because of hitting rocks. Besides needing a jackhammer, our stay was very nice.
The perfect place for family weekend! Large landscaped area that included a trailer area, cottage road and one day parking. There is a big picnic area with tables and barbecues. There is a cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, ice cream and a small shop that has hygiene products, mosquito repellent, children toys and a lot of little things. On the territory of the island there is a playground, a volleyball court, a sandy beach and a boat pier. Here you can fishing. There are hiking Eco-paths and a fountain with drinking water. Gorgeous place!!!
