Along with my dad and brother, I joined Belvedere this past winter and we just wrapped up our first season as playing members. The only downside was not joining (much) sooner than 2021. What an outstanding, outstanding year. Where to begin…
1) The golf…most importantly…this golf course is in excellent condition. (See the pictures I took with my old iphone which might not even do them justice.) These superb conditions probably should be expected of a private golf club, but still, it must be stated. There are some pretty decent public courses around (I played public courses all my life until this year), but those course conditions do not hold a candle to what Belvedere was like in 2021, even beginning in April. Such a beautifully designed course, kept in beautiful shape. It never gets boring either.
2) The people…I was expecting some snooty people, being new and at a private club, but Belvedere could not be more opposite. The members all have been welcoming and down to earth people. All the staff - from the GM to the golf pros to the golf shop to the administration to the food and beverage - are all just a pleasure too. Seriously, just great great people.
3) Food and beverage…the restaurant and lounge is one of the very best around Sherwood Park. We pop in for dinner, or beers, even when we’re not golfing and will continue to do that through the winter. The food, and service, is fantastic. The newly constructed snack shack is also in a great spot to grab a quick beer, a hot dog, or a breakfast sandwich at the turn between the 9’s.
According to some older members I’ve chatted with, there were some lean years at the club about ~3-5 years ago. For all those issues, there’s truly no sign of anything now. The club is well run, the people and staff are great, the food is great, and most importantly the course and the golfing experience can’t be beat. If you can afford it… and if there are spots available (I think there’s a wait list at the moment)… I would highly highly recommend joining Belvedere. I plan to stay for years to come.
Course is in good shape. Played a tournament. Prime rib was not as good as it used to be several years ago. Service was good and friendly. Good time, will go again.
Very well taken care of course. Staff is professional and friendly. Food is delicious. Quite expensive to golf here and the course itself is pretty tough in the sense you can't see most of the holes from where you tee off, and there's no maps on your scorecard. Definitely recommend a golf watch if you have one. It's also a private club so I can understand the price a bit.
Yup...there is a reason it's private. Gorgeous course. Challenging yet fair. Once I win the lotto max...I'm in.
Medium at best. Just go to Broadmoor
