We stopped here while in Canada. We bought some gifts and had a great chat with the owners! We stayed and talked for over an hour. What a great time!
Great gift shop with really unique gift ideas. Friendly staff!
Far better on the inside than it looks on the outside!
The exterior is very unassuming, but once you go inside, you will be stunned by the variety of crafts lining the shelves! Several vendors from across Southern Alberta show their wares, from leather goods to soap to custom birdhouses!
The staff are friendly and will explain the history of the store, local news, and what to do when you're in the Milk River area.
DO NOT SKIP THIS PLACE! You will be pleasantly surprised. I ended up buying a new holster for my Leatherman for a fair price.
If you’re like us you’ve driven past Milk River countless times without visiting, but recently it’s become a must-visit location due to the opening of the Gift Shop.
Easy to find and directly off the highway near where the grain elevators once stood (RIP), the Gift Shop not only holds a variety of unique and intriguing products, but it also acts as a welcoming post to the lovely town of Milk River. This store is packed with items created by local artisans and craftsmen in addition to items created by Albertans from all walks of life. Even if you don’t have plans on buying something, it’s well worth a visit to check out the always revolving items on its shelves. We’ve seen items there that we’ve never seen anywhere else; there are clearly some really talented people in the area who have their wares up for sale in the store.
From our previous visits there were carvings, woodworking, souvenirs, metalworks, books, paintings, honey, children’s toys, decorations — practically an entire arts fair packed into the space. Many of the items have short bios of the artists so you can get an idea of who the talented people are who made the items. Personally, I consider it a thorough sampling of what Alberta consists of: Hard-working, creative people, each with a unique story to tell.
Not only are the shelves well-stocked, but the owners are very friendly and willing to chat. They know a lot about the Milk River area and if you ask me they’re practically the unofficial ambassadors of Milk River. The Gift Shop is clean and well-lit, with AC which is a plus for those hot summer months. The next time you’re headed south to the U.S. border or if you’re a returning from a trip, stop off Highway 4 and give the Gift Shop a gander.
Very cool store. Local artisans display their wares in here, everything from ceramics to jewelry to hand made knives. Plenty of great artwork too. Must see if you are in the area or passing through!
