Red Creek Fir - the world's largest Douglas Fir tree

Tree was beautiful definitely worth the drive. BC roads maintenance needs to come in and grade the road as it is horrible to try and drive in with a car.

Breathtaking tree that must be seen in person. People keep saying that you need a 4x4 but I've seen a Hyundai accent make the trip. Something with better ground clearance would be ideal though.

What can I say. Big effen tree! It's a nice and short hike through the trees to get to it from the dirt road.

Something people should know when heading out to this amazing giant I think it's a must see. However we couldn't find it partly because of the logging roads and poor road signs. Will attempt this again soon. Got too later in the day and didn't want to risk getting lost.

-No cellphone reception in this areas. Phone GPS will take you to a dead end (this happened to us). But will be in the area just misses one turn.
- Require higher clearance vehicle 4x4 or truck.
- The Red Creek Fir website provides turn by turn directions. A MUST HAVE.
- Go early so even if you get lost you have a little more time to reroute.
- Have a full tank of gas.
- Tell someone where you are going and also take the advise on the website like having a working spare tire etc.
