We used Kites in the Classroom kites for birthday parties three years in a row and loved doing something different from all the other parents in our neighborhood. This is a perfect crowd pleaser. Fresh air and exercise suits sporty kids. Crafting a keepsake suits artsy kids. We got the system down perfect: kids spend about a half hour decorating their kites with markers, glitter, and tons of stickers. Then, each kid is asked to take a turn showing off their artwork to the group, explaining what their idea was and how they made their drawings. We encourage loud cheers from the crowd so everyone gets to feel brilliant and amazing. We then walk to the local school yard to fly the kites. Because these can be flown with virtually no wind, every kid has success. Party ends with cake, and the kids get to take their kite home with them.
