Best Employer you could ever have in ASD services.

I knew that Little Steps was a great place when I worked there, both for children attending and the employees working there. But now after working at four other ASD service providers in other parts of Canada, including two ‘so called’ premier ones, it has become pretty clear to me how far above the field Little Steps are in terms of having SLPs, OTs, and BCs on site at all times and spending their time physically present with the kids very regularly, this is FAR from the standard at other places that I’ve seen.

The level of training invested in employees and in turn the standard that employees here are held to is MILES HIGHER than what is happening in other places.

The level of data collection and consistency in implementing therapy programs is awesome. Clinical staff regularly check in on sessions to ensure that staff understand how to implement their therapy programs effectively for each individual child, and when the child demonstrates mastery of a skill they are graduated on to a more advanced form of the skill or a new skill that builds upon what they have just mastered. Kids here are truly kept at their developmental edge, being challenged to learn new skills and behavioural strategies to communicate and get their needs met in a functional way for them and the people in their lives.

Another thing that is absolutely exceptional about staff at Little Steps as I experienced it was how children with violent or self injurious behaviours are treated. The level of care, compassion and patience towards all the clients (children attending) that is the standard here for all staff is nothing like what I have experienced in other places. And the turn around rate in helping the clients find safe and functional ways to eliminate behaviours like this and replace them with effective self-soothing, communication, and deescalation strategies was pretty amazing and heart warming.

I witnessed older children speak their first words here, and then go on to become chatter boxes! I saw tense, scared families come in with children whom they were so worried about become joyful and relaxed and oh so accepting of their child’s unique disposition and gifts that they are able to share with the world and their families.

And what also needs to be said is that the children love coming here. They think they are going to play with friends at the big blue house, or they see it as their school. They make friends and their families who are similar situations connect and make friendly too.

Summer Camp director Tay is super great, the level of attention to details for the summer camp programs is so cool.

The big blue house that is Little Steps Therapy Services is pretty darn cool place, and the Director/Manager here named Victoria is a superhero woman, truly.

What an amazing resource that we have here in Victoria - they offer such a wide range of support services for kids. All the staff that I have interacted with have been highly skilled, great communicators, and obviously love their jobs!!

6 Stars. The Staff puts an incredible ammount of energy into my kiddos development and fine tunes everything to her interests to make it a fun experience.

Great service providers. My son has been going there for 3 years and we have been happy with them. They have all specialist working there seeing your child on a regular basis compared to many who are monthly and from out of town.
