On my 4th visit to this establishment they were actually open during their posted business hours and I had the opportunity to enter.
The kitchen was closed but I noted a number of tasty menu options and some drink concoctions to try at a later date. The bartender was friendly, courteous, aware of the local surroundings and other topics that made for good conversation.
I liked the atmosphere so much that I returned the following day and ordered a pretty fabulous 2-pc Fish n' chips (thoroughly enjoyed the tarter sauce also).
I'd recommend the shaken lime margarita on the rocks, it's pretty tasty and so was the pint of local cider on tap... they have a number of local drink options if you're feeling adventurous.
Previously rated the establishment 2/5 and left feedback advising to update business hours which can save potential customers from wasted time and effort if the Pub closes prior to posted hours.
I'm happy to know this place.
We went to Moby's quite a few times during our honeymoon a couple of decades ago and loved it! Now under new ownership, we weren't sure what to expect. We were blown away. The decor is typically pubby, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Two cool things we noticed right away: 1. The service was friendly and welcoming and 2. The owner was one of the people we dealt with. I like that. Regarding the food, my wife had salmon, potatoes and green beans, which she raved about. I had been told about their duck wings and had the meal version, which included rice and green beans. I also had the "Turbo Sauce" which upped the spice game. They were delicious, with just the right amount of heat. If you are looking for a nice pub on Salt Spring Island, I recommend Moby's.
Mobys was recommended by a local and I'm so happy they did. It's a true highlight of our visit to salt spring and a must for anyone coming by. We were absolutely blown away by the duck wings. Had to come by twice on our short trip. The humour in the decor is a lot of fun. Make sure to stop by if you have the chance.
I am wrapping up my third visit to Salt Spring Island and Moby's is a must-do on any visit we've had. The food is delicious pub fare, and the atmosphere is a delightful blend of relaxed island life and cool pub. If the weather is cooperating, I heartily recommend a seat on one of their two patios. The service is relaxed, prompt, and friendly. Make sure to closely examine their drinks menu, as they've obviously taken the time to include some locally sources beverages, along with widely known, 'safe' choices. The place is scrupulously clean, and the view is the perfect way to whet one's appetite. It really is for all ages, as I've had fun dining here with senior citizens and my two year old son. Parking is adequate, although it might get a little tight during peak periods in summer. I've just come from Moby's right now, and if it weren't for my parental duties, I could have happily spent the afternoon sipping beer and chatting.
Great view of the harbor, friendly staff.
