Overall a good experience (two adults and a 6 yr old in a kayak). Lots of wildlife (River otters, bald eagles, minks, seals) and nice landscape. But the guide was a little too laid back and didn't seem to have a plan for what to do. We felt like we could have gone further and seen more. I would recommend this if you are after a more laid back experience.
John was a pro, the spread from Caroline was next level, had a wonderful experience.
John made me feel incredibly safe with his diligent safety checks and confidence. I've only kayaked a few times before and, unknown to me, I never actually knew how to paddle properly! John noticed this and by the time our morning trip was done I was paddling forwards, backwards and turning without the rudder on ????. He was an excellent guide and his knowledge about the geography, history and geology of the area made much more than a regular outting on water. I left feeling like I'd learned alot while having a great time in nature enjoying the many eagles, some in their nests, shorelines birds, cave and beach ✨????????
We've been touring with Kayak Salt Spring for three years. Each year John finds us something new and interesting to see. On our latest tour, we paddled to Tent Island. We saw seals, eagles, nesting cormorants and stunning scenery. John is always happy to adjust the tour to meet our schedule and is eager to share his knowledge of biology, geology and kayaking techniques. Highly Recommended.
My first trip with John and Caroline was a blissful paddle to Walkers Hook Clothing Optional Beach. Caroline and John did all the work. All I had to do was show up and paddle! They served me a delicious lunch, then I opted to take a top free stroll and went skinny dipping in the ocean. Overall it was such a magical afternoon!
During my second trip with John, my girls kayaked in Kayak Salt Spring’s boats and I rented a paddle board from Gigi (local owner of a paddle board rental company). When I felt like taking a break, John was kind enough to tow me on my paddle board for the final stretch of our trip to the stunning Chocolate Beach. Our hostess Caroline wasn’t in attendance on the actual voyage but she sent some lovely snacks which my daughters and I truly enjoyed!
Once again, the work was done for us. All we had to do was enjoy the ride! I highly recommend booking your island adventure tour with Kayak Salt Spring!
Thanks John and Caroline for providing such amazing tours! For my next Salt Spring tour I’m picturing a sunset beach picnic ending with a bioluminescence paddle!
We are so blessed to have you both on our beautiful piece of island paradise!
