“I just completed my open water and dry suit certification with Frank Whites and I cannot emphasize enough how AMAZING the experience was. I had Chris as my main instructor and other help from Yuli, Rob, Lucas and Erik. Chris was such a great instructor, I am not sure if I would have pushed through my fear of the mask flooding skill without his support! They entire team was very welcoming and truly just wanted to see us all succeed! Chris not only helped teach the skills thoroughly and understood when we needed a little more guidance, but he also made the experience super fun with pointing out any creature he could and even bringing out the underwater camera for our last dive. The entire team at the shop was very personable and made the experience very comfortable! Thank you Frank Whites for helping me complete my next step in my Marine Biology journey! “I first met Bill when enrolled in a summer art course at the University of Victoria. Later, I took a six week art immersion course at the Victoria College of Art with Bill and later, a week long workshop at his studio on Jutland Road in Victoria. Bill Porteous is an accomplished artist and teacher, His knowledge of art Is extensive. From realism to abstraction, Bill knows his stuff and he holds exemplary talents and skills in both areas including a very strong knowledge base of human anatomy. As a teacher, Bill is patient and kind. He exudes a warmth that is important in that it allows individual just learning a new way of drawing (or painting) to relax and enjoy the creative process. Having said that, Bill sets high standards and this is a good thing. As a student in art, you find that you have improved, albeit not without a struggle.
