We have nothing but absolutely positive things to say about Hakai Energy Solutions and all their staff. Their field rep, Nick, was professional and thorough throughout, providing initial proposals, amending those at our (several) requests to better suit our needs, and was always available for input and advice.

The pricing was reasonable (we got proposals from another firm as well) so we authorized Hakai to proceed. We were told there would be a lag time of about 8 to 10 weeks (which we expected) but days later we received a call that they had an opening and the work was completed roughly 2 months ahead of when we expected it to be started.

The crew who installed the system were on time every day, very tidy, very friendly and very knowledgeable. They had great chemistry and worked as a team throughout the installation and activation process.

Hakai's office staff, for procedures, activation and payment, have been equally professional, helpful and friendly.

The trucks and crews outside our house attracted lots of interest from our neighbours during the install and we have unhesitatingly praised the work of Hakai and all their personnel.

Hakai Energy Solutions have recently completed a 9.48 kw (28 panel) rooftop solar installation on our home in Nanoose Bay. In researching available systems, we contacted several other solar companies, who, after site visits, provided us with a range of options and prices. We chose to work with Hakai as Nick gave us the most comprehensive plan with the most quality components at the best price. Furthermore, Hakai worked closely with us in a months-long process to comply with new local regional district requirements regarding solar. The installation crew arrived and worked efficiently and took the time to explain the system layout and operation. After the install we received comprehensive support which included multiple contacts and an additional site visit to connect our system to the grid and bring us online. We could not be happier with our new solar system and working with the whole team at Hakai Energy Solutions.

The crew was awesome, they even cleaned out my eve troughs while they were on my roof installing the solar panels. So I used them again to install my truck charger! Highly recommend Hakai. So much so that this is my first review as I don't bother with these kinds of things!

We've had a great experience with Hakai. Nick was great at the initial meet up and provided us with detailed models to show how the system they quoted for would work for our house. The install crew was courteous, safe and clean. So far, the solar has been interesting to watch on the app, and although it's November, we've produced a little bit and exported back to the grid! Looking forward to sunnier times so that we can watch our system work for us!

Update Nov/23: After the first year I am very happy to report that the system is working perfectly! The Hakai proposal estimated that our annual production would be 13,666 kWh whereas our actual production was 13,803 kWh. Based on these numbers our production has offset over 73% of our energy use. We highly recommend the Hakai team!
Our experience with Hakai was extremely positive. From Nick who came to provide the onsite survey, to Claire and Rob in the office our questions were answered with patience and clarity. We decided on a 11.7kW rooftop array for our house. The entire installation crew was courteous, friendly and professional. They took the time to explain what each day's plan was and answer any questions we had. The Hakai staff guided us through the current grant process and took care of permits and the contractor portion of the BC Hydro grid interconnect application. We have only had the system live for a few weeks and even with all the grey days our consumption from the grid has dropped significantly. Can't wait to see what it looks like when the sun comes to stay and our array is exporting energy to the grid.
The only advice I have for anyone getting a residential solar system is to speak with your house insurance broker to be sure your current policy is adequate. Some companies require photos once the system is installed etc.
To summarize, you won't be sorry if you get your system estimated and installed by Hakai Energy!
