(July 22, 2018, 2:50 am)It was a great hike to get to stocking lake. We took the trail to the east. It took us about 2.5 hours for us to make it to the lake and back. It was moderately difficult. My 5 year old did the trail with me and he was able to walk about 90% of the time.
The trail was marked really well. There were posts marking every Km walked. The elevation change was about 600ft and it was mostly gradual. There were 2 spots that had a very steep grade which resulted in sore calf’s walking up and hard impacts on the knee coming down.
The scenery along the way was alright. You are in the beautiful trees the majority of the way. There’s one part south of lady smith where the tress have been cleared and you can see the ocean.
