I enjoyed our stay very much. The house was beautiful and secluded but not in the middle of nowhere (which is good). When we arrived we were shown the guest lounge where they had the breakfast table setup with a puzzle partially completed for us to work on, a sofa set and an area with squares and tea and coffee for us to help ourselves. The squares were so good. I ate three. On the other side was an office space where we could find maps and tourist information which I thought was very thoughtful and could be useful.
We had the bedroom with the two single beds and it was really nice. The beds were very comfortable and the ensuite was very spacious, clean and modern. Unfortunately the water pressure on the shower was very poor. The showerhead was also too low to stand under (I'm 6'2") and I was not able to adjust the angle of the showerhead to sufficiently spray my body so I had to bend awkwardly to rinse off.
There was also a welcome letter in the room with everything we needed to know, a couple of Riesen welcome candies and we were given a key to the front door in case we wanted to go out late and come back after the house was locked. Very nice.
The breakfast was pretty good but not amazing. They had a menu set up from which we could order and there was a good selection of typical breakfast foods. They also had homemade yogurt, granola, jams and bread. I didn't try any of those except the bread which I didn't really care for as it was quite dense and dark. I'm sure some people love that kind of bread, but it was not my favourite. I do think it's cool that they made all that stuff though.
I ordered an omelette with tomato, cheese, sweet peppers, bacon and sausage, but the tomato, sausage and bacon were not mixed in with the omelette. They were left on the side which I was not expecting and that left the omelette with only cheese and sweet peppers mixed in. The egg was also slightly burned. The breakfast also came with a single potato which was nicely coated and baked. That potato was delicious. So, overall, the execution on the breakfast was slightly disappointing, and the shower lacked water pressure, which is why I gave four stars instead of five. Everything else was top notch, especially the hospitality.
Hawley Place is a lovely Victorian style home with all of the modern comforts. Our room was clean, comfortable and peaceful. We woke to the aroma of freshly baked bread which we enjoyed with our choice of homemade jams. All of the food was fresh and delicious. Mandy and Dwaine are wonderful hosts and their two lovely dogs are friendly and well behaved. We really enjoyed our stay there and will definitely be back
The best b&b place I have ever been to. Everything was perfect in this hotel: starting from the moment we checked in when Mandy (the owner) greeted us and made a mark on the map showing the location of our home city :) and ended up with an amazing home style breakfast. Would definitely recommend the place and will stay here again when next time on the Iceland!
Excellent location, picturesque home with nice details and a lovely garden, people are amazingly friendly, roomes are very nice prepared and equiped - feeling home is guaranteed!!! everything ist lightflooded. From the moment we arrived there was no doubt that this is the home away from home we where hoping for. Best sleep, comfortable spa music and amazing food
