The Common Dog

We got two puppies from the same litter and started working with Brooke from the time they were about 2.5 months old. I cannot recommend her enough! Every time we would have a training session with her we would come with a list of questions and issues to work on. Brooke always had simple solutions for us that made sense and worked very effectively. She taught us so much about our dogs behaviours and how to interact with them so that we achieve the results we want. She trained us and our dogs! It was our first time having our own dogs and I honestly don’t know where we would be without her support and guidance. After we completed the program we have had the odd tune up session and it’s so nice knowing we can reach out any time with future concerns. Our boys go for the structured walks twice a week and this has been so amazing for them and for us! We love getting updates about their adventures and what they worked on. Bella does such a good job with them and we appreciate her and Brooke so very much!

I contacted The Common Dog in 2022 in the spring. I met with Brooke soon after to have Harlowe assessed. She is a mini Aussie/Sheltie cross. Harlowe was reactive to people and dogs and we needed guidance to help her overcome this behaviour. After research and speaking with Brooke we decided to use her services.
Brooke was very supportive and knowledgeable in her profession. She clearly explained each lesson and asked if I understood the training before moving to the next. We trained twice a week for 6 weeks.
By the end of our lessons Harlowe was learning quite quickly and we were happy with the progress.
Harlowe is still a work in progress and we train daily with what we have learned from Brooke and continues to make improvements.
Training is a constant commitment and not a quick fix.

We sent our 14 month english springer spaniel, Ollie, to Brooke for a 2 week board and train in July 2022 and it was the best decision we ever made! Before training, Ollie would get completely over-stimulated and redirect his energy by jumping up and biting us. We worked with over 5 trainers to help with this issue and no-one was able to help us. Thanks to Brooke's guidance, the e-collar, and lots of consistency and practice, we now have a much calmer dog, who listens and have had absolutely no jumping and biting! Now that we can communicate with Ollie more effectively, we are able to take him on off leash hikes, camping, on coffee dates, and road tripping. We honestly could not be happier!

We did our lessons with Brooke in the spring with our 2 yr old French bulldog. He was dealing with reactivity on leash towards dogs and not listening to basics commands. We completed four lessons where Brooke trained us (the owners) on how to correct his behaviour and advocate for our dog in public situations. We have continued to put in lots of time and effort into our dog and Brooke gave us the foundation and knowledge! I highly recommend her if you are looking for a trainer, she knows her stuff!

Last year I adopted a rescue dog. I thought I could train my dog myself (as I have always owned dogs) but soon realized I needed extra help with a few issues such as reactivity to strangers and other dogs.
The Common Dog was the answer!
Brooke is very calming, confident and caring. She is very knowledgeable about any situation, listens to your goals, and will accommodate your training needs to your
lifestyle. After lessons and continuing hard work ,my dog and I can now handle different scenarios. A big success!
