Grant and his team are fantastic! The vibe they have created in the shop is comfortable and approachable. I highly recommend Cowichan Cycles if you need a new bike or work done on your existing bike. Great people!!!
Giving the shop a 5/5 as they sponsor young athletes in DH racing. Without their support I don’t think there would be as many making the races across BC. Way to go Cowichan! I’ll be supporting when I roll through town. ????
A big trip can be a stressful thing to organize and plan for. When you are new to a field, like cycling, you are often unsure of what would be the right gear. When there is a budget to consider, the gear has to be reasonably priced yet not at the cost of quality. When you are in a different country and need help with organizing it's tough to get in touch with someone whom you can trust to get the job done. I needed a bicycle and the right gear for a year long bikepacking/bicycle touring trip that was to start on Vancouver Island, and had to order it all from India. I came across Cowichan Cycles after some poking around online, and asked them if they could get me a Surly Pugsley 2018. I got in touch with Grant, the owner, who was quick to respond (despite it being Christmas time) and he was very supportive and got right on it. He spent his own time researching the right gear for me and got back to me quickly with a gear list for me to check out. Looking online it was clear that the stuff chosen was good quality with good reviews, and best of all it fit into the budget I had mentioned to Grant. Once I arrived in Duncan, Grant spent the day walking me through the bike and the gear. He is a very kind and thoughtful person who took the care to ensure that I understood not just the gear but also gave me lessons on what to do if something went wrong. I set off from Duncan to ride down from the North of the island and upon returning to Duncan I had a few issues with a pannier and a bag I had broken. Grant immediately got in touch with Ortlieb, and had the replacement parts ready for me by the time I got there and also replaced the Blackburn bag under warranty. He spent the day fine tuning the bike, and correcting a few issues it had. A trip like this can be a stressful affair if issues with gear cannot be corrected quickly. But with the help of a thoughtful and supportive cycle shop one can rest easy. There is much and more that I can praise about this cycle shop but to sum it up, if you are looking for a cycle shop that will give you the utmost importance and respect, and value you not for your money but rather as a person then this is the place to go to. Kevin, John, Bill and Grant are all professionals who will take the very best care of your needs and my trip would not have had the awesome start that it did if it was not for them. I can't thank Grant enough for all his help! In my opinion, Cowichan Cycles is the best shop on Vancouver Island (and in the country)!
Great Staff that will not close when the customer is in need of a tire repair five minutes before closing. More than reasonable price.
Purchased my new bike at Cowichan Cycle yesterday. Awesome shop; there is no attitude or pressure. Bill was great to deal with. Found him to be very honest. Great coffee, too! They have earned a return customer. Thanks for the Sight 9.2C!
