Fantastic staff. Beautiful location

I was so excited to take Back 40’s Explorer Skills workshop! It was such a great think to do before our outdoor adventures to make sure that we remembered all the skills we need to be in the outdoors. I learned such great skills like how to determine how far I’ve gone by counting my steps and how to use a compass. Thank you for providing me with these important skills!

What an amazing experience it was to join a group of ladies at a Back 40’s retreat! Everything about it was perfect, from the paddling and hiking that was tailored to our abilities, to the wonderful meals that were prepared for us, to horseback riding added at our request as well as massages right at camp! The staff at Back 40 were warm and welcoming as well as knowledgeable in all things outdoors. I plan on making this a yearly trip and can’t wait for next year!

My husband and I stayed here for our first visit to BC. We absolutely loved the views, the beds were cozy and uhmm the viewwwssss!! We had an absolutely fantastic time. The grounds were maintained very well by excellent people. We can't wait to go back and visit #thekootenay.

Not sure if I will be able to go back to regular camping after this great experience! The Back 40 Outdoor is a great mix of glamping with being in the back-country. They have multiple amenities available to help the headache of packing and unpacking. The owners, Katherine and Adrian, are extremely friendly and knowledgeable in the area. They are great with finding excursions that suite the groups adventure level! Highly recommend this stay!
