(May 23, 2017, 5:23 pm)I have had 4 kids in the school since 2007. Two have since graduated and are in University (1st & 2nd year) and I have two still in the school in Grades 11 & 12. I also had my nephew in the school for a few years while he lived with us. My experience has been one completely opposite of some other reviews I have read. I have experienced teachers who come early, stay late, sacrifice their lunches to help their students succeed. I have been so impressed that I jumped at the chance to work in the school at the office. My 2 boys and 2 girls have flourished not only academically but in sports, music, in service to others and spiritually. We are also a generational Deer Lake School family as my husband went here as a child.
(February 3, 2017, 1:03 pm)I've visited Deer Lake School several times to participate in school functions and programs and was very impressed with the dedication and commitment of the teachers and staff. I have never witnessed such a mentorship program before where older students are encouraged and given opportunity to take personal concern and responsibility for younger students.
Since then, I began working at Deer Lake School as part of the staff (not as a teacher) and have been in a position to really observe the leadership at work and have been all the more impressed. I am so proud to be a part of a committed team of individuals who sincerely care for the students!
I see and speak with the students and teachers regularly. I see beautiful things happening everyday, and I look forward to sending my children there! My best suggestion, come and see for yourself what Deer Lake School is all about.
