We had such an amazing time on our fishing trip! Warren was knowledgeable on the areas, kind and patient with our 3 year old who joined us. It was such an incredible experience, we got lucky and caught our limit in a short amount of time! I would highly recommend him for all your fishing needs!
Warren is an outstanding fishing guide.
He is a stand up guy, polite and informative. Our group had a ton of fun, we had an amazing day and caught our quota of Salmon. Couldnt of asked for a better weekend morning. Thank you Warren. Hope to see you again next year. Cheers.
We absolutely had a great time with Warren. There were five of us. Three of us had never been on a fishing charter before and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Warren was very professional. He showed up on time and was prepared for us. He answered all of our questions appropriatly. We all learned so much about ocean fishing. He was in constant contact with other guides to make sure we were in the right spot. He was doing his best to make sure our experience was the best it can be. The sun was shining, the fish were biting, and company was great. Can't ask for anything better than that.
Can’t help but laugh at the commentary here from folks quantifying their day as a $$$/fish caught scale.
Fishing is about the experience, and as someone who works in the fishing industry and has travelled North America fishing with some of the most reknowned guides out there, I can confidently say that very few guided trips anywhere are as enjoyable as time with Warren.
There are three things that stand out about this experience:
1. The location, fishing in and around one of the biggest urban areas in Canada while catching wild salmon is completely mind blowing.
2. Warren doesn’t quit. I’ve been out twice, both times in tough conditions, and as a capable angler I paid careful attention to the tackle, techniques, and locations we fished. Warren wasn’t one to put his lines down and cross his fingers, he consistently adapted his approach to the conditions and was in close contact with other charter operators sharing intel about the day. He’s a good conversationalist, knowledgeable guy, and if salmon are getting caught he is catching them.
3. First Fish is such a unique experience because of how independent the ‘success’ of the day is from the salmon bite. The potential for Dungeness Crabs, Spot Prawns, wildlife sightings, urban boat tour, etc makes for a much more diverse, multifaceted, and delicious experience than you’d have fishing almost anywhere else.
If you like to fish and you’re in Vancouver, this is an absolute must. It’ll change the way you see the city, the sea, and you have the chance to catch some of the most fun, best eating fish in the sea.
Captain Warren is a very nice guy, but fished for 10 hours and paid $1,100 for one 3 pound salmon. I do understand it's fishing and not catching but not one word was said that this wasn't normal. It may have been several factors with two of them being high expectations for first salt water trip and they were just not biting, I don't know. I would think for this kind of money things would have gone better.
