Been attending for about 5 years. Solid, accurate Bible teaching, life-giving Sunday School for children, caring community and a Pastor that makes the effort to connect and know his people. The children are taught to see the Bible as God's Big Story. That big picture and cohesive perspective of scripture is not often found in off-the-shelf Sunday school curricula. It is also welcoming enough for anyone to easily step up to serve. Recommend SJR for all, especially young families, who are looking for a home church in Richmond.
I've attended Saint John's Richmond for several years. It's the perfect place to develop a deeper understanding of the Christian faith. The congregation is wonderful, the music is great and the children's ministry is so good that SJR is often asked to share their model success with other churches in Vancouver and abroad.
My wife and I have been attending St. John’s Richmond for three years. A great experience here.
The teaching is accurate, current, contemplative and challenging. The worship is a beautiful blend of contemporary and traditional music led by a very kind, incredibly gifted and committed worship leader.
The sanctuary is currently a Lutheran facility with beautiful stained glass and a lovely warm decor.
Coffee and refreshment time follows the service in the rear hall to connect with other parishioners.
There are many activities organized throughout the year including youth field trips, special events and picnics.
This is a low pressure, friendly Church. Services are gentle, intimate and reverent. A haven of rest in the heart of Richmond.
Greeters will meet you at the door. Check it out!
God bless you.
We arrived late last Sunday to their breakfast service. To my surprise, at 9:45, there were still plenty of sausages, eggs, bacon and muffins left. The have a number of coffee geeks in the congregation, so they served home roasted coffee! We ate quickly so that our plates can be cleared before the worship service started. We sat at round tables and because we arrived late, we ended up sitting at a table with people we didn’t know very well. They were friendly and helped us feel at ease. The breakfast service is held twice a year in the hall. I thought the hall is a great location for the size of this congregation. In the hall, the singing was much fuller. The children taught us a song they learned and they sang enthusiastically and very well. There were no bulletins last Sunday, but Sean Love provided helpful introductions for what to expect next. He gave an uplifting sermon on prayer which is part of their summer sermon series. The songs and scripture reading was projected on a screen that was visible from the whole hall. I found the service very moving. This Sunday is back to normal which means Anglican worship service in the sanctuary, with coffee time in the hall. Connie is in charge of their coffee time. Her son told me that Connie spends a lot of time on Saturdays baking for Sunday. The snacks include lentil chips and such, fruit, cookies, and home baked goodies. The congregation is friendly to new comers so we were greeted well. Rev. Sean Love used to train preachers at the Artizo Institute. Both Sean and Ben Roberts preach exegetical style which we appreciate because they explain the text in the Bible linking the old testament with the new testament. We will be attending here for the remainder of July and August.
An understated, gem of a church in Richmond, BC! I was lucky to call this place for a couple years. I so appreciated the way they did faith and community amongst a mixture of ages, cultures, and backgrounds. Recommended.
