  This is, quite simply, as wholesome and delicious as any pork to be found anywhere on earth. The heritage-breed pigs are raised unconfined on beautiful pasture-land near Merritt, BC, and fed superb organic produce (supermarket wastage), organic whey (cheesemaking wastage), organic spent grains (brewery wastage), and whatever they forage on the land. You should visit if you are every in the area I have.
  
  To the commentators who are critical of the unglamourous retail location in Vancouver I would say two things. First, do you have any clue how expensive it is to raise high-quality food (as opposed to the cheap crap you are used to eating)and what low margins there are in it? Do you think a small farm doing things based on high ethical standards can afford the same fancy store front as a profiteer? Second, why do you make assumptions about the quality of the meat based on the industrial park location of the shop? Do you think they are raising their pigs in the back parking lot? This is all knowable: Blue Sky Ranch has earned its growing fame and is one of the most transparent farming operations in North America.
  
  Blue Sky Ranch (formerly Urban Digs) is one of the great BC food stories. Pork so delicious you could cry -- and raised the right way.

  The most genuine farming operation i have ever witnessed. Run by a visionary who literally puts her back into everything she believes, this tiny farm specializes in heritage pork from pigs who eat organic everything and live out their lives in happy comfort. Taste the difference (trust me, you *think* you know what pork tastes like) and you'll find it's impossible to go back. They also cooperate with other farms to supply eggs, poultry, beef, bison and produce. Yes, it costs a bit more but the money stays in our local economy and it's totally worth every penny. Supporting these efforts now goes a long way to establishing biodynamic and sustainable farming, and ensuring local access to food will be our lifeline in the years to come.

  I've been buying 95% of my meat here for over 2 years now. You'll realize you didn't really know what pork tasted like before you tried theirs. Ethical, local and sustainable farms supply a wide range of products on the webstore. What's more important than what you eat? ! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
