This wonderful organization with amazing staff helped when I called and when I was upset about seeing deceased wildlife they promptly called animal control and came to remove the animal and humanely take it away. I have a heart for all animals and I can say without a doubt this organization cares very much about the animals. It was a sad thing but I was so glad this organization helped me when nobody else did . I was determined to figure out who would come and help. I cannot drive by seeing something like this and just be okay with it. Thank- You!!!!!!

Got my lost cockatiel by this shelter, my bird flew 32 km from surrey and caught by one of their officers. So thankful I’ve got my bird after 21 days from missing him.

Coquitlam Animal Shelter and Bylaw Officers were the first no-kill shelter in the lower mainland that set a real example for all other animal rescue groups and shelters. Mae Reid, the councillor there, made this her project of love after the SPCA offered their services by offering cheap and irresponsible provision of municipal animal control - the consequences were disastrous. Public workers were replaced by precarious workers earning a fraction of the wage, and a 30 year culling of animals began as the SPCA could not afford to look after the animals with the bids they put in on a race to the bottom model. The animals suffered, services suffered and workers suffered. Another reminder of what happens when privatization is the focus of a government. Great job Mae Reid and City of Coquitlam.

Very friendly, and helpful staff. Very considerate of the cats and other animals in their care. Book an appointment ahead of time during the pandemic.
