Hired Peter for a prepurchase inspection on a 45' ketch. Gave a thorough run over the boat and an honest, unbiased assessment on-site and a detailed report after. Report provided effective leverage on price negotiation for purchase. Report was accepted for obtaining insurance and Peter was known by name by brokers. Provided guidance on retrofit and post-purchase advice. Very satisfied with the service.
I hired Peter to survey a 1974 made 35' sailboat I had tentatively purchased. Peter advised his business is mostly commercial boats and a smaller number of pleasure craft.
Peter went over the boat thoroughly, he gave me a detailed review of what he found, and explained the issues and implications clearly. I appreciated his frank candor; which after all, is what you hire surveyor for.
He later contacted me with info on the fair market value of the boat, and in less than a day followed up with a well presented 8 page survey document.
In the end I let the boat go based largely on his advice. There were a lot of issues that would have cumulatively cost a lot of time and money. I wasn't looking for a project boat, but that's what it was. This was heartbreaking at the time, but the right decision for us.
