Like other posters before me, I will freely admit that the completion of the Drone Pilot Basic course was instrumental (forgive the aviation pun) to my understanding of the subject, and in preparing me for the Transport Canada Drone Pilot examination.
The Coastal Drone course was well paced and I was delighted that Kate K. included some pop-references (that I actually understood, Mav) that lightened the tone of the material, without distracting from the critical messages. I must also stress to would-be Drone Pilots that while the Basic Course is at the very least a foundational necessity, to really be prepared for the TC examination, you do need to invest in the additional Exam Preparation course.
I thought that I was prepared for the TC exam and was leery of spending the additional funds, but thankfully my brain outweighed my pocketbook and I purchased the prep package. THAT was an eye-opener!
In the end, I wrote the TC examination a couple of hours after completing the Coastal Drone exam preparation, and was successful with a great marking result on my first attempt. That would NOT have happened without the information and guidance provided within the Coastal Drone online training packages. Many Thanks for being out there to assist me in pursuing a new hobby in the right way.
Regards, Fred L
When I started out I was in between sources in gathering information but as I completed my Coastal Drone course the more confidence I got. The information was very palpable and easy to understand. The quiz after each subject matter was really helpful in retaining but also understanding what you read. Did two practice test on the portal after completing the entire course, then logged in and wrote my exam. PASSED! Thanks Coastal Drone!!!
I took the video course offered by Kate of Coastal Drone and I also signed up for their exam prep (lots and lots of practice questions). Kate actually makes some pretty dry material quite enjoyable (I'm still laughing at her quoting the "great philosopher, Ice Cube") and the course material is divided into small, manageable segments so you can easily go back and review a segment if you feel you need to. I actually crammed the material starting on a Saturday morning and I wrote the Transport Canada "small basic exam" early the same evening -- passed first time which I absolutely know I couldn't have done without first taking this course. So, thank you very much to everyone at Coastal Drone involved in designing this course!!
This is a great coarse for Basic drone certification. I am a senior of 70+ years and have been interested in trying to fly small drones. Although I do not own a drone over 250g I decided I may want one. I signed up for the basic course completed over one weekend and took my basic pilot certificate exam the next day. Passed the exam first try. Thank you Coastal Drone Co
Nice training, video based sections worked great for me. Happy to see resource materials included. Would love to have more check list examples or templates that I could just use. Passed my Basic now and will most likely use Coastal Drone for my Advanced when the time comes.
