So cute! What an amazing selection. I didn't know perogies came in that many flavours and they have all the take-away topping available right there, sour cream, onions and farmers sausage. Fridays they have hot lunch takeaway and every day they make hot fresh bread. But only a dozen so don't miss it!
Feck'n Awesome!
Met the owner, Veronica. Found out her grandparents owned the Grand Forks Hotel. When traveling through Grand Forks I would always stop at at the Hotels restaurant as it was Ukrainian food. Borscht, Perogies, Cabbage Roles.
Veronica's Borscht, Perogies & Cabbage Roles are the same recipes as her grandparents.
All the above foods are handmade and are simply the best.
As good as Granny Timm's and that means they are Feck'n Awesome!
My Mom makes the world’s best pierogis. Honestly, SHE DOES.
So I was hoping for good pierogis from Veronica’s Gourmet. These are OUTSTANDING!!!! Sorry, Mom, they are! Veronica’s pierogis are tender, flavourful and she makes gluten free ones too (which my Mom does not 🤷🏻♀️).
I highly recommend trying Veronica’s Gourmet Perogies. They are amazing.
Edit - November 2020:
3 years later and still one of my favourites! We love these perogies so much we had them for our wedding banquet. Everyone in the shop always has a smile and we've never been disappointed with the quality and deliciousness of these perogies. Do yourself a favor and support this incredible local business!
Original review:
I finally went here for the first time yesterday and picked up some perogies and farmers sausage. I found the proprietor to be pleasant and welcoming. The shop portion is very small but it is clean and well-organized. The perogies are pre-frozen and sold by the dozen.
I cooked up some of the Deluxe perogies for dinner and was not disappointed! They were plump and flavourful and in every way superior to the processed perogies found in grocery stores. The dough in particular actually tastes good and complements the whole ensemble of flavours and is lovely and soft but still strong enough to avoid ripping during pan-frying (unlike most store-bought where the dough has flavour and texture like cardboard). I will definitely be back to try more flavours!
Everyone needs to visit this store!! Their perogies are to die for! They are just as good as Gramma used to make em! Handpinched right there at their many tables in the back! They do special orders or just go right in and pick up bags of frozen perogies! Love how they support other locals and sell Bonettis farmer sausage! I buy from every special event where they have a food booth set up! My Heelers even love a lil sample here and there!
