Tara was great teaching me skills and many tips for more enjoyable walks with Hank. She is very knowledgeable and resourceful and patient. I’d recommend Tara to any dog owner needing that extra help teaching their dog with leash walking.
We couldn't be more grateful to have Tara and her boarding services. Our pup Mia is a rescue and while she loves dogs, she has some anxiety that we've been working through and it was important that we find someone who uses positive only reinforcement. We found boarding at daycare to be too overwhelming for her, and thankfully the home environment that Tara provides was a tremendously better experience. Tara provided nightly updates which we hugely appreciated, and Mia even made friends with another guest! The amount of care taken with Mia was obvious and we would not hesitate to board her here again. Thank you Tara for taking such good care of our pup!
It isn't easy finding an environment that will be comfortable for our anxious rescue, and it can take a while for her to warm up to new people, but our pup Winnie took to Tara immediately. It was such a relief to know Winnie was a good hands while we were traveling, and Tara did a fantastic job keeping us in the loop about Winnie's stay. Tara, thanks for the care and attention you put into looking after Winnie! You really went above and beyond to make her feel at home, and we were so grateful for the photo/video updates. We will see you again soon. :)
Loved the puppy basics class!! lots of time to work with everyone as the classes are small, I would recommend Terra Nova to anyone with a new puppy or dog. 5 stars!
Our two miniature schnauzers, Stanley and Seymour, had an incredible week staying at Terra Nova Canine Care! Tara was fantastic with them and we were able to enjoy our time away with the comfort of knowing how well they were being cared for.
Tara’s process for ensuring that the environment was the right fit for them was very thoughtful and always focused on what was best for them. We had an initial visit for a little over an hour where they were able to interact with her and where we all went for a short walk along with her Great Dane, Granite, to be certain the dogs would all get along well. From the very beginning Tara used positive reinforcement to reward them, and her gentle, upbeat demeanor allowed them to warm up to her right away. A week before our trip she invited them to spend a full day with her so they could be there without us and she kept us posted throughout the day. Stanley was happy that there were some new toys for him to play with, and Tara was able to find some ways to make Seymour feel at ease, as he can often be anxious in a new place.
And during our official trip, Tara kept us updated through an app, so each evening we received a report (which we could check at any point during the day) that showed their activities and photos. The property is a multi-acre farm, so they were loving their outdoor time running and playing, all while safely being on extra long leads. The app was the perfect way to stay close to them and know they were doing well while also being able to enjoy our time away. And it was heartwarming to watch the evolving friendship grow between Stanley, Seymour and Granite throughout the week!
We would HIGHLY recommend Tara and the environment she provides at Terra Nova. Her dedication to creating as welcoming and comforting a space as possible for dogs away from their own home will make us return as clients for sure! Thank you Tara and Granite for treating our boys as if they were part of your own family!
