Katie's Place

Katie's Place is clean and spacious, allowing the cats some outdoor access with fresh air and a view of trees, birds, squirrels and greenery. This is wonderful so the cats don't feel so pent up in the time they are housed at the shelter. Whether it be a short stay, but especially important if it's a long stay. The cats are not isolated, but housed with others so that they feel a sense of comaraderie and cat community. The cats have soft blankets, toys, beds, perches, scratching posts, cat trees for great vantage points, ample good food and fresh water.
The volunteers obviously love the cats and do all they can to make sure the individual needs of the various cats with their differing personalities are met to the best of their ability.
This shelter is very diligent in making sure the medical needs of the compromised cats are met with great vet care.
The fact that the shelter is very careful to match the right cat to the right human for adoption is understandable. Many of these cats have already been misplaced, or neglected or abandoned. Nothing is sadder than to see a cat finally get adopted and then, returned.
Katie's Place does all they can to help each cat find their ideal home and in the meantime, give them a safe and comfortable home environment. These volunteers are particularly sensitive to the special needs cats and the elderly. Which is wonderful, considering some of these cats were strays, sickly and some were very neglected.

Katies place is amazing. Such compassionate people working there. I just recently lost my little one to kidney disease and went to donate food and bedding that she had not used. I needed a smile that day, and I was not disappointed. If you want to help they always need donations.

Katie’s place is a safe haven for cats and the passion the staff have for the furry felines is remarkable. My motto is “Adopt, don’t shop” and here there’s a cat for everyone. Please if you’re looking for a new friend for life please visit Katie’s Place first.

They look after the cats quite well I'm sure. That is why 3 stars. However they discriminate basses if you have a disability, and social economical conditions. They also take forever to make a decision.
I went to cares in Langley and was able to adopt a kitten.

Just be careful with Katie's place if you're disabled, single or not wealthy.

Katie's Place is a shelter for animals (mostly cats) staffed by dedicated volunteers. A wonderful place to visit if you want your heart stolen by one of these adorable felines. We adopted a cat named Roger Taylor who had been in Katie's Place for over a year. We were told we would need to give Roger Taylor space as he was a work in progress since he came to the shelter an angry cat and it took a while before he showed interest in any form of human interaction. Our subsequent visits to Roger Taylor confirmed that he was a bit aloof but didn't mind having people around. To our surprise and amazement, a little over 24 hours after we took our cat (now named Charlie) home, we got an affectionate and loving feline instead of a grumpy cat. I believe the care given by the volunteers of Katie's Place to Charlie (and the other cats in the shelter) lit a spark and reminded him of what a home could be. All we did was provide a forever home for the transformation to be complete. A big thank you to everyone at Katie's Place for helping cats feel wanted and loved.

Now if we can only convince our cat Charlie that he's not the master of the house.
