Challenging kitchen renovation handled by professional, innovative team

We have an older home with lots of quirks, e.g., plywood wall, cast iron vent and drain pipe. Sarah and Brian came up with innovative solutions to the problems that arose during our kitchen renovation. We are very happy with the quality of the cabinets, sink and quartz counter top.

The only reason for a 4 rather than 5 star review is the Ukinox faucet that retails for over $300 that didn't include a spray feature and broke twice.

Since the original review, the faucet leaked again and was promptly repaired.

About 6 months after our quartz countertop was installed, we noticed a chip by the front of the sink. We did not drop anything to cause the chip so the reason for the chip is unknown. I contacted Oakwood Pacific Kitchens to ask for a solution and was told I would have to pay $150 for the supplier to come and fix the chip. The experience with the supplier of the counter was less than satisfactory. We paid 80% of the cost of the counter on March 9. A few weeks before the installation at the end of July, we were told that our choice wasn't available and we would have to wait a few months or choose another option. We had hoped that since we paid 80% of the cost that the counter would be set aside. We chose another option and then we were told that the supplier wouldn't be installing the sink that was shown as a $300 on our purchasing agreement. We had to pay the plumber approximately $300 to install the sink.

Due to these issues, the star rating has been decreased to 3 stars.

Deciding to completely renovate your kitchen is a major decision: it is the most important room in your house that must function efficiently but also be stylish and a reflection of your personality and tastes.
But there are so many choices and a bewildering number of cabinet companies that promise perfection at prices that vary considerably and we’ve all heard the horror stories of poor design, indifferent quality
and bad installation. So as homeowners who appreciated quality butwere budget oriented we spent a year investigating options, developing our layout and visiting suppliers.The key element in any kitchen renovation is the designer who must not only be experienced but actually care enough about the outcome to personally invest their time and attention to detail to ensure the optimum result is achieved at a price point that is acceptable. Sarah from Oakwood Pacific Kitchens was the one designer we met who impressed us with her knowledge, patience and consistency. She carefully listened to all our ideas and pre-conceptions and faithfully produced a design that reflected our opinions however, realizing that our layout and choices would vastly exceed our budget, she also completely on her own initiative devised an alternate plan that achieved all our objectives but at a price that was in line with our budget requirements.
The second element is the quality of the cabinets themselves and as a discerning homeowner with extensive experience in wood products and their manufacture I was able to judge the joinery of both their standard line of “pre-built” cabinets as well as their custom built products and determine that their quality was above industry standard and represented excellent value.The last component of the whole process is the installation as no matter how good the design andmanufacturing of the products, all houses, and particularly older buildings, present their own challenges which must be accommodated with on-site trimming and adjustment to ensure a seamless end result that both looks beautiful and operates flawlessly. The team despatched by Oakwood were organized,
diligent and equipped with an impressive array of tools and equipment. They worked hard and accommodated all my requests and did not finish until I was completely satisfied.
I would heartily recommend Sarah and her team at Oakwood Pacific Kitchen to anybody undertaking a kitchen redesign and would not hesitate to use them again.
