If there were more organizations like this I think it would greatly reduce the growing homelessness issues in this country.
Great facility. Safe and clean
Peace is a bible based, people/family focused church in East Richmond. There are two services on Sundays - English at 10 AM and Chinese at 11:30 AM.
There is Sunday school for a growing number of children. And, many of the adults meet for bible study, weekly or bi-weekly. The study groups decide when and where to meet. People are encouraged to join a group to know and to support each other, for building a community of caring people. Members also welcome visitors to join them for coffee on Sundays after the service.
Peace is quite involved in the community. Members volunteer for a food bank at Peace every Tuesday afternoon. And, members prepare community meals at Peace every first and third Tuesdays of the month, except for a short break in the summer. About 120 to 150 people attend these meals, half from Peace church. People of Peace church want to know the neighbours in the community. People from many backgrounds come to these meals and in the gymnasium wall there is a display of the flags of the countries represented by the people coming to these meals. The community meal has been running for several years. People attending the meals also volunteer in cooking, setting up and cleaning up after the meal.
Two years ago Peace Church sponsored a refugee family from Syria and helped them resettle in Canada. This was not the first time that the church has helped in resettling families from war torn areas. Over the years Peace church has done such work several times.
Kids programs run on a regular basis. Peace welcomes kids from the neighborhood to come and check out the program.
Once a year members attend a family retreat weekend near Hope, BC. This offers families opportunities to get to know each other through indoor and outdoor activities such as study sessions, board games, hiking, volley ball and floor hockey.
Lastly, people here are friendly. You just have to initiate conversation.
Here you can meet a lot of good people dedicating their lives to serve God and neighbors. Sharing their blessings with other people in need. In this community I feel loved and special. I invite you too to approach them and feel in family.
God bless all this wonderful people always to continue doing good that is all God wants.
Peace Church is a place for hope for me and my family. It has changed my life, my moms, and my brothers. Life seems crazy sometimes but its a place I can go to be reminded of the love God has for me. We are so blessed with a great church and church family
