This company sent their manager to provide an estimate , when they said they would.They scheduled our work too fit our needs.The crew came early and started the work on time ; worked steadily through the day ,performed all the tasks we had agreed on ;cleared up the mess ( and there was a lot of material to be cleared!), and were pleasant and helpful.
They had some difficult trees to deal with ( a coastal Sequoia and an Araucari "monkey puzzle"), but just handled them perfectly.
What more can you ask for ?

We've trusted our plant maintenance with BCPHC for a number of years and have always been impressed with their service and professionalism. We had out-of-the-norm request for a couple of 'tree rounds' (sections of trunk). This request was quite outside the box and we considered it a bit of a long shot when making it. Anna's prompt and positive response along with their locating and delivery of the 4 rounds was greatly appreciated. This was above and beyond their normal excellent service.

We have used the services of BC Plant Health Care since 2008. As owners of a townhouse complex on 20 acres of land, we consider our trees to be major assets so we have invested a great deal in maintaining them over the years.

For the last 10 years, we have relied on the expert advice of arborist Reid Hardman to help us keep our trees healthy and attractive. We have hundreds of trees of many different varieties on our property and at times we experience problems that require professional analysis and assessment. Reid takes time to study the situation, to explain the issues affecting the tree and to provide information about the merits and costs of treatment options available to us.

Each year, Reid assesses all of our trees to ensure any risks or hazards are identified so that we can develop an action plan. He also assists us with developing a tree maintenance schedule that helps us keep our trees healthy while spreading costs over time. The occasional emergency call has been dealt with efficiently and at a fair cost. On one occasion, a miscommunication resulted in extra work at extra cost to us but this was readily corrected.

The well-trained crews from BC Plant Health Care have done excellent work including young-tree training, clearance pruning, root pruning, tree replacement, disease control and much more. Crews have worked on very large trees with safety in mind for residents and themselves. They arrive on time, work hard throughout the day and clean up thoroughly when finished.

We will continue using BC Plant Health Care to preserve and enhance our beautiful trees.

Today had BC Plant Health Care come out to bring a new Earth Day garden bed, to add to my existing raised beds. This is the third time we have used the company's services. As usual, they were on time (early actually), were cheerful & professional. They did a beautiful job leveling, lining, and filling the bed. They cleaned up everything after, and were so great to deal with, all in the pouring rain. There may be slightly less expensive options, but the staff are professionals who know what they are doing, and have the background & schooling to do it properly and safely. You get what you pay for. Also, in my view, if the public took a few moments to communicate their needs better, be kind, and friendly, they might be very surprised at how much easier things can be.

The good - Came promptly to do the assessment. Andrew came out and was friendly, knowledgeable, insightful. The on-line system to book that appt was easy to use.

The mediocre - I had to book 3 weeks out (which was fine) but there was no day before confirmation or touch-base. I was also not told what time of day they would arrive. I called to ask that when they arrive to give me a call as I wanted to explain a few finer details and ask if they could do one little job (on the side for cash). No phone call and only realized the job was done when I arrived home. My experience with other home services is usually so much better than this. It seemed expensive to me - $ 500 to knock off 3 tall branches and clean it up.

One question I still have outstanding.... They topped my tree and the cuts they made are completely perpendicular. The only thing I know about tree pruning is that you don't make straight across cuts otherwise water will pool in the 'cut' and cause rot or fungus growth. I've asked them about this and got no response.

Not saying I won't use them again, but I will seek an alternative company for the next prune to see if that experience is any better/cheaper.
