Hehe, I am one of their employees! Just Work is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meaningful employment to those with barriers, either physical or mental in nature. There are three types of work: pottery, catering and construction renovations. Compensation comes in many forms, primarily a living wage , a sense of belonging and social acceptance. I highly recommend you look us up if you feel suited to do so
A few months ago, I hired Just Work to re-do the flooring of my Vancouver condo. They gave me a quote which was competitive, and completed the job within the time frame that they promised. Also, during the job, they helped me fix a few other things in the condo (broken mirror in the bathroom, bedroom door that did not close, installation of our new washer/dryer) that I needed to get done, and did it at a very reasonable price.
I was very impressed with their professionalism and the quality of their work, and am very glad that I hired them.
Most of all, what I love is their mission as a social enterprise, to provide dignified work for those in Vancouver who faced barriers to traditional employment (i.e. people with disabilities, or recovering from addictions, or those with other health challenges). I felt like hiring them was a small way that I could directly help those individuals, and serve the greater community that I live in.
I have also bought beautiful handmade mugs from their other division, Just Potters, and used their catering service Just Catering.
