After purchasing my 36' sailboat in Sept, I knew there were going to be some updates required. It wasn't until my family's first weekend out in the Spring that I realized a priority upgrade needed to be the battery system as we struggled for 3 days to keep the fridge cold part time and still have enough juice to start the engine in the AM.
After a lot of research on wet, AGM and Lithium batteries, I stumbled across a video of Jeff's discussing the Firefly Oasis Carbon Foam AGM which delivers deeper discharges than normal AGMs, and significantly more charge cycles. Not Lithium, but also no where near as expensive - I expect they will have 2-3 times the life cycle of normal AGMs.
Jeff worked with me to replace my two 12v AGMs with three 4v batteries in series to give me significantly more Amp Hours, with long term, maintenance-free, service life. I added in 200W of solar to help extend engine-free time while on the hook at remote anchorages.
My technician, Rob, showed up a few minutes early, assessed the existing system and made some recommendations to optimize battery location and wiring, and got the system installed in less time than Jeff estimated. The install is neat, professional, and most importantly, safe. Rob is welcome aboard any day!
Could I have done a battery and solar install cheaper? Yes. But the equipment would have had a shorter service life as the Firefly batteries are second to none on the AGM side of the market. So this is an investment in the future.
Have to say it is great to have confidence in my batteries and not worry about whether my engine will start in the morning...

Great service with battery replacement, xantrex inverter, and Victron monitor. Amazing to be able to see battery consumption anywhere. Even better to be more than two days at anchor and only down to 60% despite freezer, fridge, and all the tablets.
