“Great experience overall. Owners were very responsive, the van was in good shape. I would not mistake it for a new van...it's absolutely a trail van and perfect for the island. the provided equipment was adequate and the 'trail book' saved us a lot of money finding places to camp, that were just as good if not better than any paid campground, and allowed us to have a great trip! Would book a van with them again without hesitation, Go have a blast on the island for cheap!!!”

“Excellent coffee. It is a roaster and not really designed for the cafe scene. It’s in an old service station and when you get your coffee, there are just a couple tables and a few old rattan chairs to sit on by the old pumps. No one else was there so we got the two chairs with cushions that rocked. The coffee was excellent and brought to our table by a friendly young woman. We sat back, watch the highway go by and soaked up the sun. It was perfectly unpretentious and a peaceful break from cycling. Highly recommended. When I’ve used up my Creekmore’s beans (just up the road) I will mos def go to Karma for my next pound of espresso beans.”

“Absolutely wonderful to deal with. We had a cat with an emergency and they were able to get him in right away. They kept up great communication throughout his exam and diagnoses and they were understanding of his slightly feral temperament. In the end, our very senior cat would have required eye removal surgery and after talking personally to the vet about our options, we made the painful choice to let him go. Everyone we dealt with was compassionate and understanding and kind. The fees were in line with what we expected and the care was excellent. We are so happy our boy was in such good hands.”

“While driving from Port Alberni to Duncan, the belt on my car snapped. Luckily Jeff from JD Auto answered my call, ordered a new belt, picked it up, drove out to where my car was and fixed it on site without me having to get it towed anywhere. I was back on the road within 3 hours. He was super friendly, and I thought the price was super reasonable for the service I got. Would highly recommend if you need a great mechanic in the area!”

“WOW.....It’s been a long time since we’ve received such exceptional service from a business and that is what we got today with Tank. We were warmly welcomed by him, shown around, had all kinds of things explained, shown all kinds of wood slabs, and given amazing personal service and great advice. We left with a beautiful piece of live edge maple, planed and cut to our specifications and ready to go for our charcuterie board projects. Tank is a massive asset to this business. At one point he was dealing with 6 customers at once; all with incredible friendliness, sense of humour and professionalism. He knows what he’s talking about. Lots of stunning finished pieces: tables, mantles etc to see as well and current projects being built. We’ll be back and we will be recommending to others. Thanks so much Tank!!”

“Don't show up before 10! Most things were closed. Good place to stop to pick up snacks from the healthy grocery store or the produce store. Looked like a good donut shop with an interesting variety but we were there too early and had to leave before it opened. Very cute place to walk around with kids. Village feel to it. I will definitely stop by again. With and without kids.”

“Pretty amazing donuts. I love chocolate, so the Double Dunker was my favourite. The 5'oclock somewhere is filled with a mango filling. Very good if you like fruit donuts. They have their own parking lot just behind the store and there's lots of space. We got here at 4pm on a Tuesday and there were only two groups in front of us, so it was quick. We were lucky and at about 4:02pm, they announced a 2 for the price of 1 deal! I don't know if they do this every day. The goats are gated off separately a bit down the road. I initially thought they walked on the roof of the store.”

“Guys at the shop were awesome. Both guys spent a bunch of time with my 9 year old answering all his questions on skateboards. They let him help setup his new board and shared there passion of boarding with him and made his exciting purchase exactly how it should be. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this shop. Spent lots of time in board shops but these guys got down to my sons level and you can tell they enjoyed helping him.”

“Tried the strawberry, cookie dough, Belgium hazelnut and the moose tracks. All flavours were delicious. Line up to get in moved fast and the method they have to keep things moving seemed to work really well (pay for your cones - get a ticket - go to the directed numbered counter and give said ticket to the person there and they ask you cup or cone and what flavours you want). Might sound confusing but it's not and it made sure the long line up moved very fast. Employees were very friendly as well which is always a bonus. Will go back for sure next time we are in the area.”
